Imagine The Marsh Conservation Area

Imagine the Marsh Conservation Area is on Katchewanooka Lake in Lakefield, Ontario. It offers visitors a wonderful opportunity for wetland exploration and appreciation. It is a Provincially Significant Wetland for source-water protection, biological diversity, conservation education, and nature appreciation.

The property was acquired with the generous involvement of local citizens, the Imagine the Marsh Committee, and the Otonabee Region Conservation Foundation.

Visitors will enjoy a short hiking trail, interpretive signage, and a two-level observation tower that overlooks the wetland.

Outdoor Adventure

Explore Imagine the Marsh Conservation Area on the shores of Katchewanooka Lake. It's a special place where you can discover the beauty of wetlands. You can come here to learn and enjoy nature.

Camping

Overnight camping is not allowed at Imagine the Marsh Conservation Area.

Fires are not permitted.

Imagine the Marsh Conservation Area includes a 100-meter section of hiking trail that links to the Lakefield Trail System. Visitors will find interpretive signage and can enjoy an up-close view of shoreline habitat. Nature enthusiasts will also enjoy the observation tower for viewing flora and fauna of the adjacent Provincially Significant Wetland.

Spend some time on the water in a canoe or kayak. Enjoy flat water, a gentle current, and great scenery and wildlife along the Otonabee River and Katchewanooka Lake.

Bring your own canoe/kayak or rent one from us over at the nearby Lakefield Campgound. Rentals are available 9:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. each day. Canoes and kayaks can be launched from the Campground.

Paddle around to the Imagine the Marsh Conservation Area, a Provincially Significant Wetland. It is protected for source water protection, biological diversity, conservation education, and nature appreciation.
