Squirrel Creek Conservation Area

Squirrel Creek Conservation Area offers day-use, recreational activities along the Otonabee River. The property features a free public beach and boat launch. The area also features two picnic shelters and two baseball diamonds. Winter activities include snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Squirrel Creek Conservation Area is maintained by the Township of Otonabee South Monaghan through an agreement with Otonabee Conservation.

Do you love outdoor adventures and having fun by the river? Squirrel Creek Conservation Area is the perfect place for you! Located along the Otonabee River, this beautiful spot offers lots of exciting activities for you to enjoy.

There is no overnight camping at Squirrel Creek Conservation Area.

Fires are not permitted.

Squirrel Creek Conservation Area offers free boat launch access to the Otonabee River. Visitors can cruise in their motorized boat upstream to Peterborough or downstream to Rice Lake.

Paddle by canoe or kayak along the Otonabee River shoreline to Squirrel Creek. Located only a few minutes downstream of the boat launch.

Squirrel Creek Conservation Area has two baseball diamonds. Contact the Arena and Recreation Manager at the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan to book a baseball diamond.

Two picnic shelters are available on a first come first serve basis. There are also open areas located close to the parking lot and waterfront, which are suitable for small family gatherings.

The use of alcohol is not permitted at Squirrel Creek Conservation Area.

An unsupervised public swimming area is offered at this location. Dogs are not allowed within the beach area. The use of alcohol is not permitted at Squirrel Creek Conservation Area.

Visitors can fish from the shoreline of Squirrel Creek Conservation Area into the waters of the Otonabee River. Catch various fish including pan fish, large and small mouth bass, and many other species.

Waterfowl hunting only, is permitted at Squirrel Creek Conservation Area and only along south shoreline of Squirrel Creek.

A valid permit is required to hunt on select Otonabee Conservation lands
