EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

WATERSHED BIOLOGIST
One-Year Contract Position
$30.00 per hour
Location: Peterborough

Applications are invited for the position of Watershed Biologist (one year contract) at the Otonabee Region Conservation Authority, Peterborough, Ontario.

This position is responsible for working with local agencies and municipalities in implementing the Authority’s Section 28 Regulation, the Provincial Policy Statement and the enforcement of Section 35 of the Federal Fisheries Act related to the protection of fisheries resources and natural heritage features in the Otonabee Region watershed. The Watershed Biologist also provides technical expertise in the areas of aquatic and terrestrial biology through participation in the development and implementation of environmental projects and monitoring programs.

The successful candidate must possess a university degree in biology or related discipline or equivalent education and experience; have at least 3 – 5 years of related experience; have sound working knowledge of the theories and principles of natural resources management, fish and wildlife identification, environmental monitoring protocols and relevant provincial and federal legislation; excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills. Possession of a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s licence and clean driving record required.
