Ontario Family Fishing Weekend
ENJOY THE FUN OF FISHING
AT SELWYN BEACH CONSERVATION AREA

The Otonabee Region Conservation Authority invites community residents and visitors to the Selwyn Beach Conservation Area on Sunday, July 12th, to enjoy the fun of fishing during the 2009 Ontario Family Fishing Weekend.

The Selwyn Beach Conservation Area is located on the northeast shore of Chemong Lake. Children and novice anglers who do not have their own fishing equipment and are eager to experience the excitement of fishing can borrow fishing equipment – fishing rods, reels and tackle - on a first-come, first-served loan basis (while quantities are available). The fishing equipment is avilable through the Tackle Share Program of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.

Fishing is a wonderful way to get outdoors and enjoy some fun with family and friends. Angling teaches young and old alike, first-hand, about the importance of healthy waterways and may inspire a lifelong interest in conservation.

The Selwyn Beach Conservation Area is located on the north-east shore of Chemong Lake, just 20 minutes from Peterborough. The address is 2251 Birch Island Road (from Peterborough take Carnegie Avenue, also known as Centre Line of Smith, north to Selwyn Road, then go east on Selwyn Road to Birch Island Road and head towards the lake).

During Ontario Family Fishing Weekend a fishing licence is not required; however, the conservation licence limits set out in the current Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary will still apply.
