The Selwyn Beach Conservation Area is located on the north-east shore of Chemong Lake just 20 minutes (approximately 27 kilometers) from Peterborough. The conservation area offers its visitors a natural setting for relaxation and outdoor recreation.
The 29 hectare property was acquired by the Authority in 1973, to preserve a section of Kawartha Lakes shoreline for public use. It was purchased through the efforts of the Otonabee Region Conservation Foundation, with a generous contribution from the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and additional assistance from various individuals, organizations and industries in the Peterborough area.
The Selwyn Beach Conservation Area provides a multi-purpose, day-use facility with access to Chemong Lake, while protecting the natural beauty and features of the site.
