Otonabee Region Conservation Authority
Sources of Funds and Program Expenditures

FINANCIAL OVERVIEW

Message from the Chair

I am pleased to present The Otonabee Region Conservation Authority’s (ORCA’s) 2010 Audited Financial Statements.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Public Sector Accounting Standards as outlined in the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Public Sector Accounting (PSA) Handbook.

ORCA had an operating surplus in 2010. This surplus was used to purchase tangible capital assets and pay down our debt. ORCA received funding from the federal and provincial government’s Recreational Infrastructure Canada program to assist with the construction of the new comfort station at the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area and Campground. A sizeable donation from the Otonabee Region Conservation Foundation assisted with costs related to the Young’s Point Conservation Area and other conservation projects. The provincial government supported drinking water source protection activities undertaken by ORCA and provided financial support for ORCA’s flood forecasting and warning program, operation of flood and erosion control structures and the low water response program in the watershed.

Questions regarding the 2010 Audited Financial Statements can be directed to Denyse Sanderson, Manager Corporate Services.

Sincerely,
Terry Low
