The Otonabee Region Conservation Authority is seeking summer staff for the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area and Campground and the Selwyn Beach Conservation Area for the 2008 operating season.
The Warsaw Caves Conservation Area and Campground offers day-use recreation facilities (hiking trails, caving, canoeing, fishing, swimming), a 50-site family campground, and group camping.
The Selwyn Beach Conservation Area offers day-use recreation facilities (hiking trails, boating, canoeing, fishing, swimming) and group camping.
Work locations are Warsaw Caves Conservation Area and Campground, 289 Caves Rd., Warsaw, Ontario and the Selwyn Beach Conservation Area, 2251 Birch Island Rd., Selwyn , Ontario.

Assistant Supervisor (2 positions)
Act as assistant supervisor overseeing park staff and operations. Participate in park operations including general site maintenance (grounds, trails, swimming area, washrooms, picnic shelter) and site administration. Participate in grounds and building maintenance operations on various peripheral properties. Ensure safety standards are met for staff and visitors.
Some post-secondary education in parks/outdoor recreation/resource management would be an asset. Able to meet the physical demands of the position. Able to work with a variety of equipment. Valid drivers license. Able to work alone or as part of a crew. Ability to work with the general public, good customer service skills.
Training provided will include health and safety practices, WHMIS, risk management, public relations, basic security skills, use of various types of equipment.
Must have own transportation to work location(s). Willing to do shift work including weekends. Safety boots required.
$11.75 hr. / 40 hrs. week / May 5th - September 1st / 1 position available (primary assignment Warsaw Caves)
$11.75 hr. / 40 hrs. week / May 12th - September 1st / 1 position available (primary assignment Selwyn Beach, peripheral properties)
Operations Coordinator
Participate in parks operations including general site maintenance (grounds, trails, swimming area, washrooms, picnic shelter), campground operations (campsites, washrooms, security). Assist with supervisory tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor and provide site supervision as required in their absence.
Some post-secondary education in parks/outdoor recreation/resource management would be an asset. Able to meet the physical demands of the position. Able to work with a variety of equipment. Valid drivers license. Able to work alone or as part of a crew. Ability to work with the general public.

Applicants must qualify for the Student Summer Job Service program. These positions are suitable for persons aged 16-24, eligible to work in Canada, not working full time, not on unemployment insurance, and who are returning to school in the fall.
Conservation Area Visitor Services Technician
Participate in operation of park gatehouse. Greet visitors on arrival, provide information about park and facilities, collect user fees (parking, admission, canoe rentals), register campers and collect camping fees, retail sales, cash handling, operate cash register, prepare daily/weekly reports, manage campground reservations, answer telephone calls to park. Deliver public and group tour programs based on caves and other natural features of the park. Occasionally participate in park operations including general site maintenance and campground operations if required.
Must have own transportation to work location(s). Willing to do shift work including weekends. Safety boots required.
