Watersheds and Water Quality
Watersheds and Water Quality is an experiential education session that can be offered either in classrooms, or at club gatherings, such as Scouts or Guides. The flexible design of the program enables ORCA to tailor it for a variety of age groups and sizes making it a great tool to introduce the concepts of watersheds, and explore the linkages between environmental health and human health.
The program involves a variety of games and activities that demonstrate the impacts of human activities on the environment, with a focus on water quality. Participants learn about where their drinking water comes from, how waste water is treated, how water quality can be protected, and the importance of water is in all aspects of our lives. Additional components such as water quality testing, amphibian identification, fish species identification and environmental stewardship can also be included depending on the learning objectives of the group.
