Spring Water Safety

The Spring Water Awareness Program (SWAP) is designed to help children understand and recognize the dangers around creeks, streams and rivers during the spring season. Fast flowing, cold, deep water, slippery streambanks and unsafe ice present real dangers that should be avoided. The dangers around dams are also explained and children are urged to stay away and stay safe. A package of resource materials is provided to each elementary school in the Otonabee Conservation watershed and schools are invited to request classroom presentations.

The program is supported by Ontario Power Generation.

The Spring Water Awareness Program is provided to schools free of charge and is offered in March-April of each school year.
