SHERMAN WINS CONSERVATION FOUNDATION
MCCULLOCH SCHOLARSHIP

The Otonabee Region Conservation Foundation is pleased to announce KELLIE SHERMAN of Peterborough as the 2007 recipient of the Conservation Foundation McCulloch Scholarship. The $300.00 cash award is presented to a graduating student having demonstrated leadership in conservation or environmental projects and planning to pursue post-secondary education in an environmental course of study.

Foundation President John Good described Sherman, a graduating student from Crestwood Secondary School, as having a good understanding of the value of participation in environmental projects and someone who also enjoys and appreciates the outdoors. Sherman has been a volunteer with the Peterborough Children’s Water Festival and the local GreenWing fishing event.

Sherman is enrolled in the Ecosystem Management Program at Fleming College, beginning the fall semester 2007. Sherman is also the second student from Crestwood Secondary School to receive the Conservation Foundation McCulloch Scholarship.

The Conservation Foundation McCulloch Scholarship was established in memory of the late Mary Margaret (McCulloch) Edison in recognition of her deep interest in conservation and the environment in the local watershed community.

The 2007 award was announced during the 39th Annual Meeting of the Otonabee Region Conservation Foundation held June 6, 2007 at Norwood District High School, Norwood.
